The Social Security Administration and the American Savings Education Council (ASEC) have announced a partnership to launch the "National Save for Your Future" campaign which will be kicked off in 2002.
SSA has unveiled a number of initiatives aimed at educating workers about the importance of retirement planning. These include mailing a retirement benefits statement to every American citizen on the anniversary of their birthday that shows the amount of money that is in each individual's Social Security retirement account. They’ve also launched a comprehensive public education campaign to inform the public about the importance of savings and the part Social Security benefits play in planning for retirement.
ASEC is committed to raising public awareness about what is needed to successfully ensure long-term personal financial independence. They have initiated a series of public service advertising campaign materials centered around their "Choose to Save" campaign theme and website which has a retirement benefits calculator which can be found at www.choosetosave.org.
The partnering of SSA and ASEC blends the key elements of a comfortable retirement - pensions and savings built on a foundation of Social Security. The "Save for Your Future" campaign components will include TV, radio and print public service materials, a variety of collateral materials and websites administered by many different partner organizations.
This site is designed to provide the media with background materials on the savings education issue, links to partner organizations and contacts for ordering campaign materials. More on the National Save for Your Future Campaign
