Many TV stations are not taking advantage of the internet. Many others
have sites, but do not emphasize their community affairs programs as part
of their web sites. Still others do an outstanding job of promoting their
station's community affairs activities, but in vastly different ways. If
your station is planning an internet website, you may want to review some
of the ones we've selected to give you different ideas.

will bring up a listing of every TV station in the country with a home
page, listed by state, which will give you an idea of how different stations
promote their image in the local marketplace. If you are interested in

- The Community page lists local foundations and fund raising programs including contact details.

- The site emphasizes "Care for Kids" on their community page. Many links to other organizations and campaigns as well as an event calendar make this webpage a valuable resource for community affairs.

- KTLA put its community affairs program Pacesetters, hosted by Ray Gonzales, online. You can view the community events calendar or find out the topic of discussion on the next program.

- This very comprehensive website also has an extensive community affairs site. Besides the feature campaign "Waiting Child" it lists PSAs, a town calendar and contact information for the Community Affairs Director.

- Searching for "community" on this page reveals a section of Community Action that includes campaign information and a discussion guide.

- The web site maintained by Brigham Young University provides a "Kids
Club" as well as a link to the PBS "Ready to Learn"
service.
WDBJ, Roanoke, VA - www.wdbj7.com - This station
provides Nielsen ratings for favorite shows and also has a feature for
viewing broadcast jobs on their site.
